Mark commissioned this portrait of himself for his grandkids. He appeared to be a serious, even gruff guy, until you got to know him and could see the twinkle in his eyes. He loved travel and faraway places, as well as the Old West.
He chose his favorite bolo tie and cowboy hat for his portrait, along with the map in the background. He also wanted his grandchildren to know about his hobby of building intricate, historically accurate, old ships.
Mark passed away only a few years after the portrait was completed. His children and grandchildren are enjoying this treasured memory of him, just as he had wished.
